NLS Acc.10086, 103 1845 – Plan of the Lands of Kelly, High and Low Finnock and Wemys Bay in the County of Renfrew, and Oakfield in the County of Ayr.
Archaeological and Historical Collections relating to the County of Renfrew, Parish of Lochwinnoch: Volume 2, pp 165-168 gives the Innerkip properties contained in the Semple Rental of 1644. These contain some valuations, but possibly not all of them. The two principal holdings were Lavin (total £7 10s 4d) and Auchinfour (total £9 13s 5d).
Inverkip lost some 63 merklands after the foundation of Greenock parish at the end of the sixteenth century. This took place in two stages – See Greenock Text Summary for details. Finnart, which was divided in this process, must once have been a very important property of some 60 merklands.
What was left in Inverkip comes to just over 142m. If we add what was taken to Greenock the original parish was about 205m.
It is striking how many of the assessments in Inverkip are £5 or multiples thereof.
