Akirsacd

Akirsacd of 1633 = Na h-Acairseid (The Anchorage). The South Morar estate long retained a holding in North Morar. I have shown in Arisaig and Morar (p 32) how this included Bourblach, Na h-Acairseid and Eireagoraidh from 1610 but more probably from at least 1498. These properties represented the north-west corner of North Morar and the important anchorage and ferrying-point in what is now Mallaig Harbour. In 1633 the three settlements of Malackmore, Malagbeg & Akirsacd were worth ½d each. Aeclesaid was described as 1d in 1829, 1836 and 1854 but I suspect this was because of conflation with Mallaigvaig.

Bracara

Bracara seems to have been composed of two parts in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. They are Briachgarvunie(?) & Breckgarvintore in 1760; Breckgarveruick & Breckgarvnantor in 1762; Breckgarviechruie & Breckgarveintore in 1828.

Brinacory

Brinacory was linked with Auchonachan in 1760 or Arichonchennan in 1762. In Fraser-Mackintosh, Excerpta … Vol II No 774, 1828 this place is called Arrichorichan.

Scamadale

I suspect that some of the properties on the south shore of Loch Morar – specifically Lettermorar (Ferticorrie), Retland and Scamadale – were lumped together in certain documents under a single overall valuation. Most of the time Ferticorrie is ½d by itself. In 1829 it is 1d by itself. In 1854 it is 1d with Retland and Scamadale.
