In 1642 Laganphairne & Kinnach are listed but given no value. Fraser-Mackintosh (p 469) tells us that he had found them valued elsewhere at 1d.

 

If we compare the 1642 rental and Morison’s survey of 1772 we can detect some changes in the settlement pattern. In 1642 Glenmallie is mentioned twice and was worth 4d in total. By 1748-9 it was reckoned as 2½m but by 1772 it seems to have become just a series of sheilings for other farms although some people were still in permanent residence. Exactly the same seems to have happened with the upper reaches of Glen Loy.
