(I am inclined to ignore the three farms of Gargavache north of the Spean since the lack of pennyland data may be accidental).
D Murray Rose (ed.), W Purves, Revenue of the Scottish Crown, Edinburgh, 1897, p 182, gives a Rental of the Isles which must date to about the time of the forfeiture in 1493. It states that Lochaber is ‘300 merk land’. This is very close to the total given above.
