In 1223 Balloch, Sheneglis and Kilmarrannok were 3 of the 14 ‘davachtis’ whose revenues were assigned to the new burgh of Dumbarton. For full discussion see text file entitled ‘Davachs in Lennox?’. In ‘The Accounts of the Great Chamberlains of Scotland’, Vol I, p 159, there is an entry to the effect that in 1329 ‘Kýmeronok’ was in the hands of Sir Malcolm Fleming for life – for the keeping of Dumbarton Castle. It may be that what is referred to here is a davach (or carucate or arachor?) called Ky(l)meronok rather than the whole parish.

In 1643 Kilmaronock lost Balloch, Milton, Blairquhois (or Westerton), Ballagan & Ledreshbeg to Bonhill. I think these came to 26m.

The pre-1643 total for Kilmaronock was 127m – so over 4 carucates at 30m each?

The post-1643 total for Kilmaronock was 101m – so 3 to 4 carucates.

A striking number of Kilmaronock farms are 3m units.
