On many occasions the documents state the value of Bracadale as four ouncelands (80d). I find 88¼d (excluding Drynoch) but fear there may be some duplication in the area round Struan. Skene’s source (c. 1577-1595) gives 16m which would be 4 ouncelands at 1 ounceland to 4 merks.
The other problem is the boundary between Minginish and Bracadale. Pont’s notes from the end of the sixteenth century (Macfarlane’s Geographical Collections II p 583) imply that Loch Harport divided them. However Drynoch & Crossal both appear in the Minginish rentals of 1683 and 1706-8. The boundary may then have changed because from 1724 Drynoch appears under Bracadale. For arithmetic purposes I have kept it under Minginish.
