Glendale

It is difficult to be sure of quite what constituted the Glendale estate – and when! Sometimes the name Glendale is used, sometimes the name Hammer. In GD 23/8/2 of 1784 Glendale is with Housobost.

In NRAS 2950/2/485/58 of 1790 Glendale and its pendicles are given as 24d.

In NRAS 2950/2/485/11 & 12 & 13 of 1706, 1707 & 1708 Hammer and Lourgill are linked as 25d.

In NRAS 2950/2/490/8 & 9 of 1724 Hammer is 22d, Lourgile is 3d.

In NRAS 2950/2/490/10 of 1744 & 11 of 1753 Hammir is 22d, Lourgill is 3d.

RHP 746 of 1849 includes the following (+ others) as farm-units on the Glendale estate: Hammerevirran, Hammer, Holmsdale, Garimore, Lowergil, Ibidale and Ollisdale.

Cumureil

I do not know where this place is. It is only valued in NRAS 2950/2/485/11, 12 & 13 of 1706-8. I do not think it is the same as Culavall of RHP 8726.

Duart

I am not certain of the values of Duart, Swordale and Glenanabost (or Corlarach) since the various parts occur in different combinations. Duart is 2d, Glenanabost 1d and Swordale ½d in 1706 – making a total of 3½d. Duart appears combined with Swordale as 4d in 1707, 1708 and 1724, but only as 3½d in 1790 when Glenanabost was 2d. Duart combines with Glenanabost as 4d in 1744 & 1753. So the three farms combined make 3½d in 1706 but 5½d in 1744, 1753 & 1790. I think the 1706 value may be understated. We also have several documents which give Duart (probably combined with Glenanabost) as 4d and Swordale as ½d which would give an overall value of 4½d. I have gone with the middle valuation of 4½d.
