A Ross quotes Clyne (2 davachs) + Medleclyne (2 davachs) + Crofclyne (½ davach) in NLS Dep313/2983/9 of 1562. I find the names hard to read but agree with Clyne at 2 davachs + 2½ more.

There are four assessments in NLS Dep.313/3312/2 1674 which are hard to read but which may lie in this parish. The first is 3d of I???; the other three amount to 6d of West Kyllemoyir.

Clyne

GD96/8 1495 gives a definition of the lands of Clyne as Kirkclyne, Mylclyne, Clynelyss and “fortouris of Lyriboll”. Kirkclyne will be the Kirkton, Mylclyne will be the mill and mill-lands, Clynelyss will be Clynelish (NC 8905), while the “fortouris of Lyriboll” were probably the sheilings at Knock Lirable in Rogart rather than the Learable in Kildonan.

Dalphollie

Dalphollie offers a rare example of a change in pennyland valuation. There is a note in the 1623 rental to the effect that ‘the duty of 1 pennyland of Dalphollie to be deducted yearly for the harm of the Water’. Erosion had so damaged this farm that it was now to be reckoned an 8 pennyland although it had formerly been  a 9 pennyland farm. (Also in Dep.313/1598). Cf. Midletowne, Harris, lost to sand-blow (Lawson:Harris p 83). May include 2d Dalfoldy of NLS Dep 313/3312 1674.

Kerrienamean

This may be the same as the quarterland of Meyngiferri which appears in RRS VI (307) 1360. I doubt the ending of the latter name has anything to do with ferries – it is more likely to be an example of reversed word-order and represents ‘kerri’. Cf Karoumenzhe in Sutherland Book III No 28 of 1444. See under Torboll table. See also Caithness and Sutherland Records Vol I, Part X, London, 1928 pp 298-9. See Rogart parish for other Kerrie- names. ‘Mean’, ‘Meyng’ and ‘Menzhe’ may all be for Gaelic mèinn (mine).

Sciberscross

Siberscag in 1623. NLS Dep.313/81 Decreet of Sale of Skelbo 1787, p 203 gives 6d Achnamien as a pendicle of Shiberscross; further on the same page it notes the following as pendicles of Skiberscross – i.e. part of the 6d of Sciberscross: Badinteenla, Achinirinin (Achnanirinin NC 7711), Aldichlavan, Feaghless (Fèith Ghlas NC 7611/7711).
