RMS II (2420) of 1498 gives ‘Durynys’ as 6 ouncelands which would be 120d. I find 139¼d which would be just under 7 ouncelands. There are two possible explanations for the discrepancy. Firstly I think the 14d of Heribost in 1573 probably includes other farms which appear elsewhere in the table. Secondly I may have included farms that were not considered part of Duirinish in 1498. Skene’s source gives ‘Durenes’ as 28 merklands (7 ouncelands) towards the end of the sixteenth century.
How can i see or buy a copy of RHP746. Plan of the estate of Glendale
