RMS II (2420) of 1498 gives ‘Durynys’ as 6 ouncelands which would be 120d. I find 139¼d which would be just under 7 ouncelands. There are two possible explanations for the discrepancy. Firstly I think the 14d of Heribost in 1573 probably includes other farms which appear elsewhere in the table. Secondly I may have included farms that were not considered part of Duirinish in 1498. Skene’s source gives ‘Durenes’ as 28 merklands (7 ouncelands) towards the end of the sixteenth century.
